A study on the spatial and physical movement expressed in sand pictures and the self-immersion of the client

Abstract
This is a small group case study with three female college students on individual sand play therapy sessions. The relationship between the level of spatial and physical movements in the sand pictures and the level of Self-immersion of the clients and the differences in the results according to the session were the issues of this study. After the introduction of sand play therapy to each client separately, each client made her own sand pictures in individual session freely along to the immediate impression at the moment. Among the overall 10 sessions, the first(1), middle(4, 7), and the last(10) sand pictures and the measurements were compared to identify the differences and the relationships on the variables above. The contents of SCC of one client were presented as an example of the effects of sand play therapy on the client part. The data were analyzed with SPSS WIN v.20 and SCC. The results shows that some of the relationships between the levels of clients` physical movements, the spatial movements of figures and sand observed in the sand picture, and the levels of Self-immersion of the client were significant and the clients were affected by the sand play therapy in positive way. Discussions were presented on the multidisciplinary basis of neuro-scientific area and counseling area in the view of therapeutic effect.
